TRU Foundation

Pacific Powertech recently supported the TRU Foundation at their 2018 Charity Golf Tournament. The TRU Foundation at Thompson Rivers University, provides funds for the financial support of TRU students, programs and projects. They, and we, believe that education is life changing and the funds raised at this and other events ensure that no student is denied a quality education due to an inability to pay.

In March of 2017, Pacific Powertech commissioned a small group of staff to travel on a charity mission to a small remote clinic in South Haiti. The group were to visit a community clinic in the village of Osapo and assist with electrical issues and medical concerns. As can be seen in these few photos, our team encountered electrical challenges (many), world challenges set forth by Mahatma Ghandhi, and of course the true beauty of the country, the children. We witnessed the charitable works of an American team that 4 months prior had arrived for one week and built the concrete foundation, wall framing, and roof over a new school up in a remote mountain village with access only by foot. The heart of people loving on people is very encouraging especially in Haiti where the majority live in extreme poverty with only one objective, find food/water and make it through the day.

Our youngest team member was Ethan Hite age 13 and oldest Judy Douglas (age not revealed), and the rest in between. For Ethan his experience was difficult yet rewarding and he quickly made friends with the children of the village through games of street soccer. The team reported back that each person gained valuable insight not only into the country of Haiti but to the daily challenges people face living in very difficult environments.

As an amazing take away from the trip, a few of our team members have carried on to form a charitable society in Canada allowing for donations to flow directly back to the people living in the village of Osapo and to this day we continue regular communications via facebook messaging with the school teacher in the mountain village, Milos. Our focus is to provide assistance directly into the health care and education system in the immediate region surrounding Osapo. For futher information or to join our charitable efforts we invite you to contact Cindy Hite at [email protected]

The management and staff of Pacific Powertech are dedicated to channeling a portion of our energy and earnings into charitable works both here at home and around the world. We have been blessed to live in Canada and the beautiful province of BC and we believe its important that we share our good fortune with those in need.
